Book Sale Celebration

The Book Works is a social enterprise in Louisville employing and supporting homeless and disconnected youth. Our book sale event on Sept 13 & 14 (12 noon to 6 pm each day) celebrates our first anniversary of making a difference while selling newer books at a great price. More than 20,000 books, DVDs, CDs, and games will be available for sale, most for $1 to $2. Join us for "flash sales" of special items, gift sets, and NEW items!  We invite everyone to help us celebrate at our next sale event: Friday, September 13, 2019, 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, September 14, 2019, 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm YMCA Safe Place’s Youth Development Center, 2400 Crittenden Drive, Louisville KY 40217. Proceeds from this event fund employment opportunities for homeless and disconnected young people who struggled in school due to poverty, learning challenges, or childhood trauma. Youth manage all aspects of the book resale business: setting sales goals, soliciting donated books, posting items online, tracking expenses and revenue, and organizing book fair events. While in The Book Works, youth develop life skills, make an education and career plan, connect with mentors, and learn about resources in the community.
