Sarah Crowner "Clay Bodies: Moving Through Ceramics"

In Clay Bodies: Moving Through Ceramics, Brooklyn artist Sarah Crowner creates an environment exploring the artist’s relationship with material. Via painted walls, curved shelves and tables, and a hand painted theatrical backdrop, the viewer is immersed into her thinking around painting. Samples of ceramic glaze experiments, uniquely formed clay surfaces, and over 200 pieces of selected ceramic works borrowed from the collections of Berea College, Al Shands, and artist Doyle Lane, give Museum visitors insight into her inspirations for her practice. “I see my practice as a way to call attention to the spaces outside of the painting, as an immersion in the world at large.” –Sarah Crowner
