Stephen Lynerd Jazz Group @ Second Presbyterian

Second Presbyterian is delighted to present its inaugural concert for the season: THE STEPHEN LYNERD GROUP on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 7 p.m. A Chicago-based jazz ensemble, the Stephen Lynerd Group blends styles and genres to create a balanced, dynamic sound that is accessible and intelligent. It’s an evening of classical repertoire, and traditional and modern hymns in a fresh jazz setting. The Stephen Lynerd Group consists of vibraphone, piano, bass, and percussion. This concert is free, and perfect for the whole family. It will be followed by a coffeehouse-style reception. Born and raised in New York, Stephen completed a M.M. in Music Performance from the University of Maryland, College Park. During a pursuit of Doctoral work in New York, Stephen picked up and moved to Dallas, TX where he worked in the music ministry of a large church and founded The Jazz Package, a versatile collection of musicians who still work together today. “The Stephen Lynerd Group creatively fuses familiarity with originality in an authentic and profound way. Their concert was one of the finest examples of how jaw-dropping talent can be meaningfully expressed … without showing off.” - Erik Dewar, College Church, Wheaton, IL More information about Stephen Lynerd and the Stephen Lynerd Group available at: stephenlynerd.com. Admission to all concerts is free. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the church’s mission partner, The Healing Place. The Healing Place’s mission is to reach men and women suffering from drug and alcohol addiction, provide the tools for recovery, and restore productive lives. www.thehealingplace.org.
